Wildekrans is a great venue for a couple
or a family to stay the night or many
nights for that matter! Alison, the owner,
is a very friendly lady who provides a
great service and in doing so helps the
community too. Her employees make gorgeous
biscuits (peanut butter flavour –
I can still taste it!), muesli (to die
for!) and hearts made of fynbos! These
can all be bought at the guesthouse.
It is such a peaceful venue. As you
open the wooden door and see the historic
homestead, then the orchards and then
the huge mountain in the background, you
instantly feel relaxed and that you are
taking time away from busy city life.
The house is furnished with antiques
and has artworks by Kentridge amongst
others…and in the garden there are
a various artworks too! Quite eccentric
but full of fun there are fake sheep grazing
in a pen near the gorgeous pool.
To unwind and get a your heart rate going,
take a walk down through the orchard and
ascend their little hill when you get
to the top you will see endless stretches
of greenness and fynbos. You could walk
or ride for miles! I felt as though I
have discovered a magic place when I saw
this! On returning from the walk, we had
a delicious breakfast – again I
comment on the muesli as it is really
that good and I am not such a big muesli
eater!! One thing to mention is this place
has DSTV – my husband was thrilled
as he could to watch Tiger Woods win yet
again…
