Friday
Arrive in time to have an elegant supper at Villa Exner Boutique Hotel (021 859 3596) and check in or stay at Beaumont Cottages (028 284 9194), two beautifully restored, historic cottages.

 

Saturday
Prearrange a tour of Oude Molen Distillery (021 859 2517). Have a pot stilled brandy tasting at this very professionally managed distillery.
Phone ahead to book lunch at Thandi farm kitchen (021 844 0343)
Rugby on? Watch at Tri Active’s pub (021 844 0975) and arrange for the owner/chef to cook you up a great dinner.

For those not interested in an afternoon of rugby, go across to Houw Hoek Farm stall (028 284 9015) and do some trout fishing. They can then prepare your catch for you.
Stay in sturdy and comfortable tents at Tri Active Events Management (021 844 0975).

Sunday
Go with on a 4 x 4 trail around Elgin with Cany from Tri Active Events Management (021 844 0975). Ask her to set up a picnic lunch for you somewhere in the fynbos! Whilst you eat Cany can tell you about the history of the area and take your binoculars, as Cany’s bird knowledge is vast.
